Delivery Manager / Delivery Lead
The engagement is delivered. Did the client outcome move?
How Value Erosion shows up for you
A Delivery Manager is accountable for engagements, not just releases. Value Erosion appears when governance measures activity (milestones met, SLAs hit, utilization) while the client outcome that justified the engagement drifts. Steering committees review delivery health, and the conversation about whether the client is actually better off never gets a slot.
Three questions to ask before building
- 1
What outcome did the client buy, in their words, and how will they know it happened?
- 2
Which of our governance metrics would still look healthy if the client outcome did not move?
- 3
What is the smallest delivery in this engagement that would give the client visible evidence in two weeks?
The first 15 minutes
Rewrite one governance slide around the client outcome
- Pick the slide you present most often to the client or steering committee.
- Replace one delivery metric with the client outcome metric, even if the value is "not yet measured".
- Present it as an open question in the next review: "How should we measure this together?"
