Structure the value conversation with stakeholders before a single line of code is written.

What it does

Facilitates the Value Architecture Canvas™ from the Value Design System (VDS) so the value is designed before the solution. Use when the user is starting an initiative, feature, project, epic or technical solution, or mentions Canvas, impact hypothesis, business outcome, business value, KPIs, baseline, or "why are we building this". Runs a role-aware conversation (delivery or technical role) and ends with a copy-pasteable Canvas and a Quick Value Release (QVR) proposal.

Who it is for

You are starting an initiative, a product or a pivot and need to agree on the problem, the value and the evidence first.

It adapts its questions and its output to 10 roles, delivery and technical.

Install

Claude.ai

  1. Download the full skill (.zip).
  2. In Claude, open Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills.
  3. Upload the .zip.
  4. Start a chat and describe your situation. The skill is chosen from its description.

Claude Code

  1. Download and unzip the full skill.
  2. Put the folder in ~/.claude/skills/value-architecture-canvas/ (all projects) or in .claude/skills/ inside your project.
  3. Restart Claude Code and ask for the skill by name, or describe the task.

Cannot install skills?

Use "Copy as instructions" and paste the text into a Claude or ChatGPT chat, or into the instructions of a Project. You can also run the method with the VDS Assistant.

These files are plain Markdown in the SKILL.md format (a name and description, then instructions). Menu names in Claude can change; if you cannot find the option, use the paste route. We have not published test results for specific Claude versions.
